Thank You Messages: What To Write In A Card

Someone you know deserves a sincere thank you card message. Figuring out special thank you card messages can be a challenge. Being thankful is the easy part, but being able to say thank you is much more difficult.

Use these sample thank you card messages for your card. Combine them or change them as you need to make them fit the person who will receive your words of gratitude.

It's always better to send a thank you card if you are in doubt. Showing your gratitude will make you more likely to be gracious and make them more likely to be generous with you again. It's a win-win when you write a great thank you card messages that show what you think and how you feel about another person's generosity.

1. "Words can't express the gratitude I feel when I think about what you have done. I'll just say thanks."

2. "You are truly a blessing in my life. I am not sure what I would do without you. Thanks for all you do."

3. "Taking the time to help me was a very nice thing for you to do. I know that you are a person who sacrifices for others without thinking. Thank you."

4. "The longer I am around you the more I realize that you are a genuinely generous and caring person."

5. "I don't know if I should thank you or whoever made you such a nice person."

6. "I don't think I could find a more thoughtful, generous person."

7. "You are so generous, I know you'd give me the shirt off your back if I asked. Good thing I'm not asking."

8. "You deserve a bigger thank you than this card for what you did. I will remember what you did."

9. "I consider you as a gift from God, so I guess I should send Him a Thank You card. I know His address, but could you tell me how much postage I'll need."

10. You have been extremely supportive through this difficult time. You may not realize what a blessing you have been. Thanks for your help.

11."You have encouraged me during a time I needed encouragement. Thank you."

12. "That was a really cool way to surprise me. I really like the way you set everything up and made it an awesome time. Thanks."

13. "Thank you for thinking of me and taking the time to be kind.  You have a great heart."

14. "I appreciate the timing of your help.  You helped right when I needed help most."

1. "I don't know anything else to say except, thank you." (general message)

2. "You must be reading my mind, because you got me exactly what I wanted. I guess I don't have to actually say thanks since you can read my mind." (clever message for a gift)

3. "Your generosity has been a blessing as well as your investment of time. Thank You." (thank you for a friend)

4. "You are thoughtful and generous in your gift giving. You picked a perfect gift for me. Thank You." (thank you message for an unexpected gift)

5. "I appreciate your generosity. You are one of the most generous people I know." (thank you message for generous gift)

6. "Only someone who knows me as well as you do would know to get me __. Thanks for knowing me. I'm thankful for knowing you" (message for a gift from a friend)

7. "You gave me an awesome gift that I will enjoy for sure. Thank You." (general thank you message)

8. "I love my new ____. You really picked out a great gift."

9. "Thanks for being thoughtful. Your gift means a lot to me."

10. "Thank You." (most simple message, but sometimes appropriate)

11. "You must have read my mind and new exactly what I wanted. Thank you."

12. "How did you know what I didn't even know I wanted? Thank You."

Use this list of common thank you card message words to help you write your own message. Use a combination of these types of words to help you write your thank you note and you will likely sound grateful:

• Thank, Thanks, Thank You, Gracious

Don't write these poor examples of thank you messages:

1. I really didn't like your gift, so I threw it away" or "I am glad I was able to take back your gift."
2. "Thanks a lot, Even though you were trying to help, and ended up making everything more difficult for me."
3. "I almost forgot to send a thank you card because your gift was very forgettable."
4. "Thanks for nothing."
   

Some people think that if they don't get their thank you card sent in a certain window of time, then they should not write a thank you card. This is not true. You can always send a thank you card late. Although not ideal, late is better than never.

It's always the right time to show gratitude for things others have done. Most people don't expect to be thanked for wedding of graduation gifts until at least a month or so after the event. This is a great opportunity for you to write something funny in your thank you card.
