This follow up to How to Talk to a Ghost in Your House will discuss ways of getting rid of a pesky ghost who does not want to leave. A common problem for people is having a ghost hang around with no real purpose of goals in his life, or should I say death. This hub will give you the tips to help you get your ghost to move out, or at least start respecting you if it decides to stay. Stop fearing your ghost and start acting like your house is yours. Be strong and get rid of your ghost today.

History Of Haunted Houses: Where Ghosts Live
After World War Two many soldiers came home with the notion that they were going to make a better home for their ghosts than they had when they grew up. When they were children, ghosts lived in the typical "haunted house," which were mostly described as dark, scary, old, broken-down abandoned houses. These parents to the baby boomers came home and wanted to live the American dream right away. Quonset huts and moving in with parents were necessary modes of living until new houses, such as those in Levittowns, being built met the housing demand. Luckily the builders were able to eventually meet the demand and everyone eventually was able to buy their dream house thanks to overly generous bankers.
The problem came when people started building these houses in the suburbs that were so nice that ghosts started moving out of their decrepit old haunted houses and into very nice comfortable houses where they had their own room with a t.v., computer, and plenty of food in the fridge. These ghosts were being spoiled so much that they never bothered to find purpose in their lives, and they just expected to have nice things all the time. Theses ghosts are lost souls with no direction, just floating around in the comfort of modern day suburban houses. Some ghosts have become so spoiled that they are not willing to work at all. They don't see why they need to start out working a graveyard shift or expect too much from their employers.
Tips For Getting Rid Of A Ghost In Your House
A variety of strategies can be used to get rid of an unwanted ghost lingering in your house, and your ghost may respond to some better than others. You know your ghost best and should choose the strategies that seems best suited for your situation.
- Ask the ghost to help out around the house. Giving the ghost chores will provide it with some responsibilities and teach the ghost a better work ethic. This may be all that is needed for some of the more lazy ghosts
- Stop providing free meals. As long as the ghost has free food in the fridge, theres no reason to leave. Ghosts are known for GOBLIN up food. Forcing your ghost to buy food will lessen its reason to stay. You may ask your ghost to share other costs also, as they are known for turning on lights and leaving the room. You may have what's called a Hungry Ghost.
- Set ground rules. Most ghosts don't like the idea of having GROUND rules, and none seem to stay in the ground where they belong. If your ghost is to live in your house, it must follow a few rules in order to respect you.
- Write your ghost a letter. Jim Fay creator of Love and Logic gives a great example of how to write your ghost a letter in order to encourage it to become more independent and move out. It's all about respect for everyone involved. For some reason it starts "Dear Son." It should be useful for your ghost anyway.
- Help your ghost. Maybe your ghost has no direction. Your ghost may need education to better itself. This will give your ghost the tools it needs to make it outside your home. Be careful though, there's a saying, "you can't teach an old ghost new tricks."
- Encourage your ghost to get out more. If you are able to get your ghost into a relationship, it may be more likely to want to leave your house. Be especially careful that your ghost doesn't invite more ghosts to your house.
Communicate Better With Your Ghost
Keep in mind that your ghost may get angry when you attempt the above strategies. It is important to stay strong, communicate assertively, and work through the conflict with conflict management techniques. Keep in mind you are the owner of the house, and the ghost is a guest.

I have always been what you call "a sensitive". All my life I could see and talk to ghosts, and I have had to get rid of many of them. They can play tricks, be perverts, or just hang around being stupid. Sometimes they died with a friend, so there's two to deal with. One even followed my daughter to school. Last year they bulldozed a bunch of houses across the street and, geez, we had a steady stream of homeless spirits coming through our house.
I get rid of them sometimes by invoking the power of God (if it is evil), or telling them to bother someone else, or just telling them they are not welcome. Right now I have one in my house that keeps turning on the living room light. When I told it to go away the light went off. Usually I burn sage to let them know they are not welcome. It makes it hard for them to move through a room and I guess it feels unpleasant to them.
what if you can sense the ghost in your house and your parents think your mental, we moved to flrida 5 years ago ok water heater, ants, termites, water system ,four flat tires, septic, washing machine broke, roof had to be replaced and the inspector lied on the discloser its one thing after another and now the pipes in the kitchen broke, toilet flooded and yes i smudged the house. it would be nice for parents to be opened minded and instead mother does not believe we have a ghost in the house, i wonder what would make the closet door open by its self at night in my bedroom. explain that guys.

I have a friend staying with me here in my condo. I stayed out the other night with some other friends of mine and the person who stayed at my place told me the next day that my condo is haunted! At first, I laughed it off and said he was crazy, then, when we talked in more detail about what he saw and heard, I immidiatley recalled similar experiances here. I don't like to stay anywhere alone usually, but the times that I have stayed home alone or just myself being the only person in my room all night, I've seen something peek around the corner into my room, heard strange low voices and cannot make out what is being said, seen things move about my room (like someone is walking around), and heard other noises as well. These are all the same things he claims to have seen while I was not here the other night and I've never mentioned any of this to him or anyone because I thought I was just trippin. Now I'm actually worried. Does leaving a light on have any effect on keeping the ghost(s) more quiet or away? Normally when I am alone I sleep on my sofa in the living room and don't have any problems, but my room is different. Can a ghost only be in the hall way and one room? My children have never complained about seeing anyone that wasn't there. Wierd, huh? And I really wish this was just some "close to Halloween joke," but it isn't. I'm honestly freaked out by this.
our family just moved to sc from FL and i think my house is haunted. last night i was going to bed in my room and i couldn't. it felt like someone was there so i opened my eyes. only to find a little girl standing in my room starring at me!!!!! i was so freaked out. i tried to get up so i could run but it felt like someone was holding me down. i tried to scream but nothing came out. i eventually gained strenghth of my leg and it felt like i kicked someone, but no one was there. when i did that i could move again and i sat up and ran. my mom said i could sleep downstairs with her so i did. but i heard someone whispering my name, coming from my room. now i am 2 afraid 2 go in my room. my ghosts are like shadows i see in the corner of my eye. she told me her name was susanna and she was born in 1741!!!!!!! i don't know wat 2 do! my parents think i am just crazy or imagening things. PLEASE HELP ME I AM ONLY 12 AND I'M REALLY REALLY SCARED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It has been about 6yrs now that my sister inlaw says both her son's who's ages are 5and 3 see's a man in the house,but no one else does. It does not seem to scare them.Does any one web page to goto to house and check this out. Thank you

But a ghost could be handy for scaring off burglars when you're out for the night or even on holiday for a couple of weeks.
Thought you're right to caution about angry ghosts, they tend to start throwing things.

Ghosts are the cheapest home security system. I find them highly unreliable though. The burglars sometimes run right through them.

My friend levi and i think he has a ghost in his house. We try to record him but every time we do, he turns it off and when he hears us turns it back on so it records us. hey guys 1 day i was having a couple friends over at my house and at 12:00 toys started to go off tv game systems and all that went off. lights turned off and windows open. on my bday i had 6 friends over in the master bedroom. 1 of my friends got taken control of and walked towards his friend and when he got up to pull him away and he was being pulled back and when that happened he yanked him and he stumbled and after that everyone saw hands going back into the wall everyone was getting headaches migraines and could barely move we keep seeing shadows hearing running upstairs and knocking thumping and banging when everyone is asleep the walls turned black and one night they turned green and in my neighbors room there is thumping on the walls and he herd hey how are you whats up. everytime i try and do something my hand iether get controled of or moves. my friend is experianced with this stuff. he has gotten rid of ghosts in his life but in my house they wont leave and when my friend got controled he started to walk towards the one who gets rid of them. in 1 of my neigboors rooms they hear knocks and banging in the attic and the walls.
please i need help if there is anyone out there to help please give me advis to what to do i have tried everything and it just wont leave me alone.
saw figure outside my house hooded but the thing that creeped me out IT HAD NO FACE. glasses jump out of the drain board into the sink and smash, have trouble sleeping in my house in my room which i smudged 5 times and told it to leave how do you control feeling bad things in a house i heard being scared makes it stronger. the church refused to bless the house why i do not go to church i was not raised religious, our religion is our family love. its hard not to walk out the door and not come back.

I have a ghost in my house it is kinda helpful sometime when i find stuff in the fridge missing or light left on over night i usually find 10 or 20 dollars out of nowhere sitting on a table of some sort (and i started counting my wallet the money isnt from there =p)One other time i was reading a good book when i dropped it because i was drinking a cup of coffee and i lost my past (it was a 600-700 page book and i was somewhere aroudn 364)I gave up looking and went to put out my coffee when i came but the book what face down on my page

I have a goast in my room. I belive it is a child. They like to tap or as i call it flick things, i.e. The closit doors or the walls or the kleenix box and play with the floor vent. Hi, my hole life I've been haunted even after my moms dealth when I was 3. I moved in to a new house surrounded by woods the first time I encounted the ghost ( ghosts) I heared a can full of soda drop. I locked my door then me and my dad and my stepmom when down stairs not a sign of soda no stains on the carpet. Then, it was the middle of the night and I could not sleep I now it was not my eyes trying to trick me. I now your ears can't play tricks on you. Then I saw a shadow of a man in black then the next second the shadow was gone and the door slammed shut. After my mom died I was sleeping next to my dad I got up to go to the bathroom or get a drink and I saw a black hand on my blanket and I started to panic I wake my dad up and he hit the hand it went throw the wall and never saw it again. That was in my old house my mom half died in that house. And at my new house I had a felling that that something bad would happen it was mothers day and the door slammed shut I thought it was my mom. Saying good night. All my life I live in fear I think their telling me something bad was going to happen. I think i am sidekick my stepsister told they may just be haunting me. That's my story please comment say what you think I don't care. Just comment please and help me they think I'm going crazy!!! Help me please!!

Right i live in a pub i am 12. I had my friend stay over and i walked out of the room and the tv turned off when i came back in i turned it back on and put the remote down and we were stood next to each other and the volume went up! we ended up sleeping in the living room that night.
Also my nans boyfriend had died and a few weeks later her and my auntie were talking no electrics were on. then all of a sudden the tv came on all the lights and lamps in the house then the radio turned on and it wasnt plugged in and my nans favourite song came on whats going on?

my 18 year old son is terrified every night. He says he sees blake shadow with red eyes over him. He just covers himself and the thing will yell in his ear. My son says he feels tugging on his blankets and now his girlfriend is saying the same and both very afriad. His pit bull crawls under the blankets afriad. I am David Bryde. I've been through my fair share of ghost, spirit, and demon problems. In fact, I'm currently attempting to help two ghosts (brother and sister, in fact) cross over to the other side. I would ask that any of you who has a REAL ghost, poltergeist, or demon problem that you contact me on facebook. I swear that I will do my best to determine the type of paranormal being you have haunting you and attempt to help you be rid of it...or at least quell it to the point that it does not frighten you. For instance, the problem with the hooded figure with no face and the black shadow with red eyes are both demons. My profile picture is Magneto, and I will be starting a facebook page called "Quell or Repell" in order to widen the spectrum of those that need my help.
One day i went 2 my friends house 2 play. And i brong my DS as well. We told every one to be quiet so evey did what i said. I recorded what we were doing. My boy friend(friend) had a bb (gun) and shot it during the recording so we stoped the recording and relistened 2 it. And in the middle of the recording we heard a girl say "He's doing something". we were ALL SHOCKED when we heard that responses (trust me we all did not say ANYTHING!!!) Trust me we were SOOOOOO FREAKEDOUT!!!!!!!!

Hey David, I looked for you on facebook, but there are a lot of David Bryde. I have a spirit in my house. I haven't seen it, but my dog does. She doesn't bark, she's scared! It's so sad, sometimes I have to give her benadryl to relax her. I know who it is, I've asked him to leave, and I've burned sage many times. It's my Mother's husband that passed last year. I live with her. I have talked to a physic and she says he isn't ready to leave because he's sorry about things and that he's antagonizing my dog to bark. How can I get him to go???
I moved in a house last year July, only to find out that a woman died there 4week after I moved in. I had an experience!!! I burned FRANKENSCENCE AND MYHRR a lot. There was and still a banging on the glass cabinet downstairs. It scared the hell out of me. However I continue to burn incense. I go to Baldwins and they told me how to burn the incense. I burned it the first of the month. In 3 weeks time the glass cabinet starts banging again. Priest came after a while, banging starts again.i once got angry and I shout to it to stop th banging!!! the following night i had a dream.THE GHOST tried to pull me down a deep hole in full speed. I managed to escaped.Ive never been afraid from that night until this very day. I kept burning incence
