Don't Worry if You're Worried

Don't worry if you're worried about whether you worry too much, after reading this you will have nothing to worry about. You should be worried if you're not worried about whether you worry too much.

What you really need to be worried about is how much you are worried about worrying about being worried.

If you're worried by all this, don't worry. This hub will help.

How to Stop Worrying about Worrying

Step One: Stop Worrying about Worrying too Much

If you're worried about worrying too much, the first step is to stop worrying about worrying too much. Don't worry, you don't have to totally stop worrying, you just have to stop worrying about being worried. Then you can worry about not worrying so much.

Step Two: Worry about What You're Supposed to be Worried About

Now that you have stopped worrying about worrying too much, you can start worrying about what you're supposed to be worried about. Make sure you're worried about worrying about what you're supposed to be worried about before worrying about step three.

Step Thee: Worry about Whether You are Worrying Too Much about What You're Worried About.

Once you know you are worried about what you are supposed to be worried about, worry about whether you're worried too much about what your worried about.

Step Four: Worry About whether You're Worried Too Much In General

Now that you are worried about whether you are worried enough about what you are supposed to be worried about. Worry about whether you are worrying too much.

Step Five: If You're Worried about Worrying Too Much, Go Back to Step One

What to Worry About: Nothing

The truth is, our world has become ever complicated by many people telling you what to worry about. Fear sells, and the media moguls know what they are doing when they get you worried. They are selling. The news gets ratings, the cars and insurance gets sold. It's easy to get lost in the confusion wondering what you should be worried about. The real question is whether you should worry at all.

Ask yourself if you can do or change anything about the situation you are worried about. For example, if you're worried that a meteor is going to hit the earth in 2010 and destroy the entire human population, then you shouldn't worry. There's nothing you can do.

If, however, there is something you can do about it, then you still shouldn't worry. Instead, you should do something about it. For example, if you're worried that you are going to get heart disease from eating fatty fried foods and never exercising, then you shouldn't worry. You should make the changes you can to improve your health.

Worry Wastes Your Time

Worry can waste your time in two ways.  One way is by simply keeping you occupied thinking about all the stuff that may happen in the future.  Meanwhile, you will neglect the present life that you have.

The other way worry wastes your time is by actually killing you.  Worry can produce hormones that are destructive to our bodies and may actually kill us as easily as smoking or obesity.  These hormones can help clog arteries and raise your blood pressure, two things that will probably lead to more worrying for you.

How to Stop Worrying

So, now that you are worried about worrying too much, it's time to practice letting go of worry. Even though you might be a little worried about worrying too much based on what you have read hear, you can stop worrying. Here's the real steps:

  1. Believe that you can keep from worrying This empowers you to break a habit of worry. Pray for peace and leave your worries to God if you can't do it on your own.
  2. Focus on positives and neglect thinking of negative future events. In other words, focus on having fun this weekend without paying attention to the work you will have to do on Monday at work.
  3. Do something when you start to get worried. Take responsibility for what you can by planning for the future. Once you've done all you can, distract yourself from what you are worried about.

Once you've done all these steps and there is still a problem, then you will have to learn how to let go of what you can't control.  Many things in life are not within our control.  So don't worry.  Worrying is within our control, so do something about it.  Don't worry about worrying.

Your hub is so true. Worrying never helps anything. One time I wrote things I was worrying about and put them in a jar and opened it back up about 10 days later. Not one of the things I was worried about happened. That little exercise was suggested to me and it really changed my outlook. Very good hub.

Pamela99,

I like your idea of putting your worries in a jar. I think some cultures have worry dolls that you can give your worries to. I will suggest that to people I know who need an exercise for getting rid of worries.

Thanks

Those steps are brilliant, we just have to keep in mind that worrying doesn't change everything.
