Real Ghost Stories: Are the Ghosts Real?

If you want to know whether ghosts are real, want to read real ghost stories, are 12 or younger, have poor spelling and grammar, and are scared of ghosts, then you will like this collection of ghost stories.

As you will find in the following ghost stories, there are similarities between them. Most are stories of hearing noises and/or seeing things that are unexplained. Whether real or not, many of the ghost stories show the harmfulness of the ghosts at a level of annoyance.

It turns out there are a lot of people like you out there with similar experiences. Ghosts can be real scary, but there are a lot of other things that can be real scary. So ask yourself, "Are ghosts real?" Then ask yourself if you should be afraid anyway.

People have real fear of ghosts, and it would be ridiculous if these people were scared of things that don't exist or that are harmless. We will explore whether ghosts are real based on comments found on two of my other hubs: How to Get Rid of a Ghost in Your House and How to Talk to a Ghost in Your House.

These previous hubs were written as satire of family relationships, but for some reason people didn't read them or didn't get them. Congratulations if you have read this far on this hub. Some things seem to be common attributes of people who see real ghosts and like to add their stories in the comments on my hubs. Those things include poor spelling and grammar, young age, fear, and disbelieving parents, which makes me wonder if you have to be a scared kid to be able to see ghosts.

1. Young- Usually 12 or younger
2. Fear- Usually scared of the ghost
   
3. Poor Spelling and Grammar- I am sure this has nothing to do with age or fear
4. Unbelievable Story- The ghost story is usually difficult to believe

Each ghost story can be validated by the preceding characteristics that are common among ghost witnesses.  If someone were making up the story, they probably wouldn't have all the characteristics of a real ghost story.  So look for the ghost story assessment next to each.

im 12 and my parents think im joking but im not

i offen hear tapping on my window and one night i heard a voice say "get out of the way" i dot know why a spirit is contacting me me but what should i do?

I have a ghost that rattles my door at night. My parents say its the AC but my room doesn't have the AC turned on at night. I know its not just me cause my cat perks her head up at growls at the door all the time. We live in a house that other people lived in. We usually don't do that.

Also once I was with my friends and we were going to take a picture of us outside the door and then the door slammed shut and we all ran screaming like girls. I REALLY NEED ADVICE!!!

I have a ghost too, i'm 12, i hear tapping, and footsteps, i have a pug which i've heard can see paranormal activity, and two cats which can as well. I sense them as well, i feel a chill when it's 70 degrees every now and then.

My parents are starting to beleive me. My moms work and house is haunted (*i live with my grandparents*) and no one lived here before us.

i think my house is haunted but im not sure. late at night i hear knocking on my wall. or a bag thats on the floor will move and all the fans are off. my dog stares down the downstairs hallway at night and wont walk down the stairs if the lights are off or if no one is with her.

the wierdest thing happened when i was watching a scary movie, the tv channel changed by itself and the remote was in the middle of my bed, not near anybody. even weirder, it changed to channel 6. is there a ghost or can all or this be explained?

also, my friends swears she always sees a shadow go across my closet, and i saw it once myself.

when i was at school today me and my friends can see ghosts and we were so scared because they followed us into our classroom and made markings on our arms and it selled out vacation what does that mean?

i was having a sleepover at my freinds house, when we where trying to sleep and it was pitch black. he claimed his house was haunted, and i never belived him. until we both heard a faint breathing noise, as if breathing a ciggerete. then, we turned on the lights, and there was a knife inbetween both of our beds...

by the way, this is 100% true, no lie. and it happend about a a day ago.

I am renting a house that was built in 1901 and I have many ghosts here that are so noisy when I sleep it wakes me up all through the night.

I have had many ghost releasers attempt to send them through the port hole and or into the light but there is more that come here or they are not sending them off. I dont care if they live here... JUST DONT WAKE ME UP WHEN IT'S BED TIME GRRRRRRRRRRR LOL

my friend and I think that her house is really haunted. We have a band together in her basement, and whenever we are down there we hear breathing noises.

Sometimes stuff in her laundry room will randomly off of shelves. We get really cold when we are down there too. Once when we were walking up her stairs, i saw something black sprint up her stairs. I was so scared that i started crying.

Then one time when we were trying to communicate with the "ghost" we asked it to give us a sign. Soon after that we heard things dropping and the curtain started moving and her globe started to spin. we were sooo terrified that we screamed and ran up stairs.

When back down to turn off the light, we saw an old man that was tall and had white hair standing there staring at us with his eye twitching. We started screaming and crying. We have this happening for a long time and really want to call Ghost Hunters. We are going to her house today for band practice and if we see him again we are going to try to talk to him. WISH US LUCK!

im 9 years old i have five ghost in my mansion i hear the doors slam shut all the time and i get up i see a ghost on the stairs i run as fast as i can to get away but it never works

my parents don't believe me and i don't know what to do it turns of the TV and then i get pissed i threw a brick at it im a girl who is serious about her TV

i heard a ghost talking beside me when i was young and it started againg a day or 2 after my granda died but it didnt freaked me out i just triend to speak back to it all i heard was him lathing beside me i thought it was my granda that died because he liked to make pranks on my and he laths alot and when i was a boy i found out that was my sister because she was calling out my name and she is a twin my other twin sister is still alive and the other passed away a few days after they was boy but anyway the reason i found out is that my mum whent to see a medium and the medium told like every thing she wonted to know and i also played that would god our my family that passed away to let me know how was calling out my name and the medium told her it was my sister and she told her what she was doing and that how i found out and i also see my granda looking right at me but i knew he wont harm me he was gut looking after me and orbs are ghosts just takeing form as a orb so them cant see there real form and they can take all different shapes and 1 more thing the banshee is very real my family has been hearing her and thay have seen her to i herd it was a roumer but my dad and mum say its true that they go to people ho has mc or the same sound in there surname she is the massenger of death when you her her screem or cry which is the worst thing you wont to hear if you hear her to look at her if you see her or hear her it is a sigh that someone in your family is going to die,

My friends house is really haunted because i went to his house we took a picture of the fireplace and when we looked at the photo there were legs of a man while we took the picture no man was standing there.

I don"t know if my house is haunted but my friend got killed at the end of 2009.Now i get these strange feelings.It seems to me that im hearing bangs that my brother is not hearing.Im 8 years old and im studying ghosts very well.I might take pictures at 10:00 P.M or something like that.I want to know if hes around me.

hi i heard noises all the time in my house at night when im trying to sleep:( its always comin from down stairs and its always like bangs, taps, creeky noises and doors opening and closing, also light footsteps ect anyone having the same problem? :-/

My brother says there no such thing as ghosts...I say i do.MY friend past away.My friend maybe haunting my house.But never say you don't belive in ghosts! If you do your house will be haunted.My brother made my house haunted because he said ghosts are not real.Sometimes i wake up at 8:00 A.M on a saterday.

Wanting to go down stairs and study ghosts.But i cant do it.The ghost may appear in the window or something.I talked to my brother yesterday saying...That im hearing bangs seeing flashs of light and little faces.

He says...Hes hearing bangs too.My house is getting a new T.V. and ripping out a wall.So he might just hear the hammer bangs but i hear ghost bangs.It was 12:00 A.M on monday.I can't go to sleep i get a weird feeling.Now going off to two weeks ago! my water main broke in my drive way.Water comes zooming in.Is it water comeing out? i said OMG i just saw something run across your window! she closed the blinds.I just sat still.I looked behind the couch.I saw the black shadow face.And now the ghost is at my house.I guess its following me.

i, im not sure if i have a ghost in my house butone night i was lieing in bed and i was about to go to sleep whan a crash and a bang went in the bathroom. I cheaked all the windows in the hall and the sitting room and non of them where open, what could that of been?

and another time i came home from school, i droped my bags in the porch and i opend the kitchen door and as coon as i got through it two doors slammed shut. so then i cheaked no windows noor doors where open and they weren't. so i opened the patio doors with a mighty push and waited outside for my mum to come home from work. when she got there i knew if i was going to tell her she would never belive me, so i made up an excuse to say that i was feeding the horse. The hole night i was shaking like mad, i was tossing and turning all night long.the following day when i came home i was to scared to open the door. this was when i knew there was a ghost!

a couple of weeks later i found out a way to communicate with the ghost.what i did was, when i woke up on a school day once i grabbed a notebook and put my name and a message (example..... emma: hi if your a ghost, r u female or male? please write back below) dont foreget to leave a pen next to the notebook so it can write. when u come homme from school cheak your notebook a see what has happened. you might want to leave a note in every single room. keep doing this every time you go out and soon you will know lots about each other. who knows? ;)

Hi my name is Paul. I am 16 years old and have a few questions about ghost. i have been living in a new neighbor hood for about ten years and have never seen a ghost in my back yard. my neighbor moved in about 4 to 5 years ago. He is around 77 to 78 years old now. The other day my dad was talkin to him about the civil war and my neighbor told him that he had seen a horse pulled wagon full of civil war vets carrying the mail (going realy fast) through our back yards. I did some reasearch and there was a civil war clinic where they would take wounded soldiers realy close to my house. Also, there is a trail that goes through my town.

Hi my name is emaa, and once i was brushing my hair then i turned around and my hairbrush was floating in mid air, i hought i was seeing things so i turned back around. the next time i turned around it was gone!

we moved to flrida 5 years ago ok water heater, ants, termites, water system ,four flat tires, septic, washing machine broke, roof had to be replaced and the inspector lied on the discloser its one thing after another and now the pipes in the kitchen broke, toilet flooded and yes i smudged the house. it would be nice for parents to be opened minded and instead mother does not believe we have a ghost in the house, i wonder what would make the closet door open by its self at night in my bedroom. explain that guys.

I have a friend staying with me here in my condo. I stayed out the other night with some other friends of mine and the person who stayed at my place told me the next day that my condo is haunted! At first, I laughed it off and said he was crazy, then, when we talked in more detail about what he saw and heard, I immidiatley recalled similar experiances here. I don't like to stay anywhere alone usually, but the times that I have stayed home alone or just myself being the only person in my room all night, I've seen something peek around the corner into my room, heard strange low voices and cannot make out what is being said, seen things move about my room (like someone is walking around), and heard other noises as well. These are all the same things he claims to have seen while I was not here the other night and I've never mentioned any of this to him or anyone because I thought I was just trippin. Now I'm actually worried. Does leaving a light on have any effect on keeping the ghost(s) more quiet or away? Normally when I am alone I sleep on my sofa in the living room and don't have any problems, but my room is different. Can a ghost only be in the hall way and one room? My children have never complained about seeing anyone that wasn't there. Wierd, huh? And I really wish this was just some "close to Halloween joke," but it isn't. I'm honestly freaked out by this.

our family just moved to sc from FL and i think my house is haunted. last night i was going to bed in my room and i couldn't. it felt like someone was there so i opened my eyes. only to find a little girl standing in my room starring at me!!!!! i was so freaked out. i tried to get up so i could run but it felt like someone was holding me down. i tried to scream but nothing came out. i eventually gained strenghth of my leg and it felt like i kicked someone, but no one was there. when i did that i could move again and i sat up and ran. my mom said i could sleep downstairs with her so i did. but i heard someone whispering my name, coming from my room. now i am 2 afraid 2 go in my room. my ghosts are like shadows i see in the corner of my eye. she told me her name was susanna and she was born in 1741!!!!!!! i don't know wat 2 do! my parents think i am just crazy or imagening things. If people try to say there is no such things as ghost has never truely came across what people believe to be ghosts now ive never seen or heard what most have said they do but i still believe bc for 100's of years people have been saying the same thing for it not to be true....i mean if you live in ga and you hear about something that the same thing you know happens to you in Tenn yeah.anyways my bf and I went to this house his parents are thinking about buying and for some reason its always unlocked know ive asked him why its always unlocked when we go there bc what house that people dont live in that are for sale and actually unlocked all the time kinda funny....anyways so we have been there 4 times or so bc he believes along with me and his brother that their is something there when you walk in the house you can feel something is different now ive walked in many houses and never goten this feeling before but this house is o so different now before we went lastnight couple days before that he went with his little brother which is 16 his no child was scared shitless more that night then any other times he has been there and wouldnt move out the door way of the house and while his brother was looking around in other rooms....BAM he see a little blonde girl pointing at him looking sad which freak him out and he ran out the house saying F*** no which his brother understood why his brother wanted to live so fast bc he saw the same thing in a picture he past by which when looked again wasnt the same thing he saw the frist time he looked at sec's ago now ive never seen anything of which they speak of and thankful for cause the feelings what i feel when i walk in that house is enough for me...but back to lastnight so we go in there looking to truely find out if its ghosts really in there or is it just our minds as most people wanna say it is....so we take a candle and ive read this toke a candle and light it and began to ask questions like is someone here flicker the light if so nothing but when i asked is there a little girl here..it flickerd and my bf was like o you did that which i wasnt even breathing so couldnt of been me and his mouth was cover with his hands....asked it again is their a little girl here with us now plz flicker the light again and it flickerd more and then he asked if there was anything bad that happend in this house and it flickerd like crazy wouldnt stop for the longest so we change to i different candle and nothing after that from the candle then we asked again show use a sign that something bad happend in this house and his car alarm goes off ...so we ran to the window to see who was out there and nothing now this is like 3 in the morning and we looked out the window for a few mins to see if we see anything and it just stoped before we got to the window i know it was his car cause it was right ear shot distance from where i was it didnt sound like it came from anywhere else so while at the window just lookin out it...i start to hear voices like muffled voice like voices of talking as if in the next room through the wall type thing and he started talking and i could still hear it even we he stoped talking then i asked him did he hear the voices he was like what! what voices....then the voices stops then a min later he heard some kind of noise come from the stair way like clearing of the voice type thing something like that....then i was like lets just leave im done for the night.....then the down stairs butterfly doors shacked a little while we was getting the candles and then we just left in a hurry....now this isnt an old house and not all house make house noises its just normally old house that do someone try to explain to me that what happen that night was just the wind or the house making noise and it wasnt something doing it...when keep in mind all doors and windows were shut and it has no ac or heat no light nothing noone lives in the house and its for sale....salers normally locked the doors to keep people like us out...why are the doors always unlocked ever door in the house front to the back is always unlocked but the two butterfly door now always locked the only door in the house they stayed locked each time we go back wasnt locked before is now locked the same doors we always hear noises coming out of....can anyone explain to me a reason for all that other then a ghost.....try it cause what you will say is bull

Who knows whether these are true ghost stories.  They are real ghost stories left on other hubs by real people.  If ghosts do exist, it sounds like they do no more harm than people who are living in your house.  When a family member shuts a door, turns off a light, or calls your name, you don't get too scared.  Why get scared when a ghost does those things.  Besides, it might have been a family member anyway.

What's a lot scarier than ghosts are people.  Real people are scarier than real ghosts, because we know what kinds of awful things people are capable of doing.

In order to keep from offending people who have had ghost experiences who I might have stereotyped, I should make it clear that the people who commented on my hubs are not a random sample of people who have experienced ghosts.  What we do know is that these people were using the internet to research talking to ghosts and getting rid of ghosts.  These people were searching and they also wanted to tell their story. 

The people who commented should not be seen as a representative sample of the people who experience paranormal events in general.  There are many possible explanations for paranormal events and ghosts are just one.  The purpose of this hub was to highlight the similarities between the comments left on other hubs, no judgments, just observations.
